On this workshop you will spend a fascinating time at our beautiful Redgrave & Lopham Fen reserve with Jilly Trafford who lives locally and has been needle felting for several years. She loves to work in wool to create small soft sculptures, such as owls, robins and hedgehogs from Shetland roving.

The craft of needle felting, also known as dry felting, involves using a felting needle to tangle and compress the fibres, without the need for water or soap.

Repeated stabbing of the fibres with the felting needle ('needling') will result in a firm felt mass. This is the basic principle of needle felting. By gradually adding fibre and defining the shape through needling, detailed three-dimensional structures such as animals can be created entirely from wool fibres.

All materials will be provided at an extra cost of £5 per person, please pay this to Jilly on the day.

Tea/coffee and biscuits are included in the cost of the course.
