Spend a day with local craftswoman Fay Jones in this wonderful ancient woodland finding out all about the Birch tree and what it has to offer.

Enjoy the relaxed setting of Bradfield Woods to explore the wonderful world of the Silver Birch Tree. Learn all about the ecology and the many uses of this marvelous tree. Carve your own spoons, spatulas and hooks from the green wood. See what colours can be extracted from the bark and dye your own samples. Use the bark to make birch bark tar and how to turn tar into glue. Complete the day by using up all the wood, making a bag of kindling and logs to take home.

Please wear suitable clothing and stout footwear.

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided and are included in the price, but please bring a packed lunch.

There will be a small charge of £10 per person on the day towards materials.
