  • Swifts tend to arrive back in the UK en masse. They arrive later than other migrants such as swallows, waiting until the weather conditions are just right. Then they seem to appear before our very eyes, filling our skies with their familiar summertime soundtrack of screaming calls. We’ve had reports of a few swifts in the region, but their arrival in any number is yet to happen – could May 7th be the day?

  • Suffolk Wildlife Trust’s campaign to record hedgehog numbers across Suffolk was launched in April 2014. Since then more than 7500 records have been added to an online recording website.

  • The Trust's hedgehog campaign that launched in the spring to collect sightings of hedgehogs across the county is now well underway. In the last few days it has been brought to our attention that local hedgehog rescue organisations and individuals are becoming absolutely inundated with baby hedgehogs (hoglets). Quite often these organisations are manned by dedicated volunteers who juggle hedgehog rescue with a full-time day job.

  • Following a disastrous year for barn owls in 2013, nest boxes on Suffolk Wildlife Trust nature reserves are this year bursting at the seams with chicks!
