We are looking for volunteers to help at Lackford Lakes.

What you will be doing:

We are looking for volunteers to help us develop Lackford Lakes into one of the best nature reserves in Suffolk where visitors can get close to the wonderful wildlife that can be found on the reserve.

To help us achieve this we are looking for volunteers to help in a variety of ways around the reserve.

You could be assisting in the reserve visitor centre. This will involve welcoming and assisting visitors, serving drinks/cake/gifts, using a till and talking to visitors about joining the Suffolk Wildlife Trust, training will be given for all of these duties.

You could also be helping the wild learning officer with school groups, events, activity days and much more. This can involve helping the participants to complete tasks such as crafts, trails or finding minibeasts. You may also be required to help prepare resources (laminating, cutting out etc) for the above mentioned events and activities and to work with the rest of the team to develop new programs.

The skills you need:

You need to be a good communicator, friendly and always willing to help.

You also need to have a keen interest in wildlife (but not necessarily knowledgable) and enjoy talking passionately about this to others.

A desire to work with a variety of people from toddlers to adults!

What you'll get out of it:

The chance to be part of a friendly and enthusiastic team at Lackford Lakes nature reserve. You'll also have the chance to learn new skills and share your enthusiasm for wildlife, as well as learning more about the work of the Suffolk Wildlife Trust across the county.
