School visits information

Please fill in our school visit enquiry form or contact the Learning Officer at your chosen site to discuss your visit and book.  Summer dates in particular get booked very early, so the sooner you get in touch the better.

We will need to know your arrival and departure times and the number of people you are bringing.

In line with Suffolk County Council guidelines, we recommend a minimum ratio of:

4 and under - 1 adult : 6 children

5-6 year olds - 1 adult :10 children

7-10 year olds - 1 adult :15 children

11-18 year olds - 1 adult : 20 young people

Our staff will confirm your booking and final activity programme and send you master copies of any worksheets your school needs to photocopy. They will also advise you of any specific preparations for your day and more general information needed by your group.

Health and safety advice

Our education sites have indoor facilities and are well equipped for outdoor activities. Preparing your group for their visit can help to enhance the enjoyment and safety of their visit.

Please ensure that children come suitably dressed for outdoor activities. Strong shoes or wellingtons and warm waterproof clothing are essential for much of the year. Sun hats and protective cream are advisable for the summer.

Please make staff aware at the start of the day of children with relevant medical conditions eg allergy to bee stings, acute hayfever.

Whilst our staff will lead a full day's activities for your group, they do not act 'in loco parentis'. Before the visit you are advised to carry out your own health and safety checks in line with the guidelines issued by your own school and by Suffolk County Council.

Accidents are rare - but all staff are trained first aiders and carry first aid kits for all activities. Full health and safety checks, including risk assessments are carried out for all activities and the team will make you aware on the day of how to minimise risks linked to any particular activity that your group undertakes.
