About the event

To be taken as a follow-on course from the Introduction to Hedgehog Course, this course will introduce you to the needs of the hedgehog including preferred habitats, behaviour, feeding and some basic first aid that you can offer if you discover a sick or injured hedgehog or one that is out in daylight.

Course outline: The work of the ‘hogspital’ and charity The importance of a hedgehog in the ecosystem Revision from Introductory: Hedgehog menu; habitat; year; things you can do to help Parasites and wider issues How to tell if a hedgehog is sick When to intervene Handling and sexing Hoglets What more you could do to help Hedgehog numbers have dropped alarmingly in the past ten years and we fear up to a third of the UK’s population has been lost.

Participants on the course will be encouraged to become Hedgehog Advocates and guided to understand how to provide support for this endearing and endangered creature. Please bring a notebook & pen, and a camera.

You will need a packed lunch. Tea, coffee & biscuits will be provided throughout the day and are included in the price of the course.
