Bird ID at Trimley Marshes
About the event
- Please note, we will only be taking bookings for this event once we have been given guidance from the government that it is safe to do so.
During an interactive indoor session, experienced local birder, Paddy Shaw will help you develop your bird identification techniques, cover useful resources (field guides, websites) as well as optics and basic field craft. You will then have a chance to explore the wonders of Trimley Marshes and put your new found skills into practice.
Paddy Shaw is Projects Officer for Waveney Bird Club and leads on the Waveney Swifts initiative. He has been a birder for more than 20 years and has led guided walks for 8 years. He has also co-lead birding trips abroad, including Portugal, Bulgaria, Poland and Hungary. He is Higher Education Leader for East Coast College, where he has been responsible for the development of many degree programmes in partnership with the University of Suffolk.
Wigeon, teal, Brent geese and redshank are among some of the species you can expect to see with the unmistakable sight of the marsh harrier ghosting over reedbeds almost guaranteed. So there will be plenty to hone your skills on.
