We had a fantastic day, Charlie was superb from organisation to actually leading the children on the daySt Mary's Primary, June 2018
Rendlesham Forest is the perfect place for a wild adventure. Immerse yourself and your class in the wonders of the trees, let them calm and inspire you as they work their magic and awaken all your senses to the wonders of nature.
Management by the Forestry Commission as a working forest, a haven for wildlife and a safe place for us to explore, results in a mosaic of differing woodland habitats to explore. A visit with The Suffolk Wildlife Trust will ensure that every child has the opportunity to fully engage with the natural world in a safe but exciting setting.
Programmes are fun and flexible and can be tailored to your group’s specific needs, based on a variety of options:
2 hr session. Max group size 30 students per session. Cost: £80 per session. Larger groups can be accommodated by combining led and self-led activities.
Orienteering: Rendlesham Forest hosts a permanent orienteering course and is ideal for introducing map work and compass work for all age groups and experience levels.
UFO Trail: Many people think these mysterious events are the most significant UFO incident to have occurred in the UK. The course is approximately 3 miles long through the stunning forest and takes about 2 hours to complete with school children. Become and investigative journalist or news reporter and combine English learning objectives with observation and detective work and an unavoidable nature walk.
Shelter Building: use teamwork and ingenuity in the challenge to build a cosy, weather-tight shelter with only natural materials. Share and compare each other’s designs & find out about all the other creatures that the forest shelters. Fantastic fun for all ages and very popular! Other activities can be combined with shelter-building:
Natural Art: inspired by artists such as Andy Goldsworthy & Richard Long, use natural materials to create artworks to make you think about the magic of nature.
Forest Sense: using all your senses to discover more about the forest & yourself.
Forest Schools: minimum six sessions
Forest school activities: taster introducing Forest School skills
The forest’s story is part of all sessions. Discovering evidence of history, geography & nature to learn how humans and nature have shaped the landscape.
Note: all activities take place outdoors, RAIN or SHINE!
