Weave a wide oval basket from English willow and some lovely textured twigs gathered from the wild. This design contains foraged materials, and is also the ideal basket to take on a foraging trip – mushrooming, for instance! With Jo Hammond, local professional basketmaker.

Jo has run very successful and enjoyable courses for us over the past few years. .

You’ll learn how to shape a hoop and ribs, simple weaving techniques, adding a handle, and lots of other skills in selecting the willow, finishing and trimming your work. All the materials you need are provided, although if you have your own secateurs, bring them along.

NOTE- Willow weaving is moderately hard work and does require a firm grip, and the flexibility to bend over and squat down occasionally.

Numbers are limited to just 12 for this course to ensure that plenty of hands-on help is available. Materials and useful handouts are included.

Handouts and inspirational reference books will be available. Price includes all tools and materials.

Check out Jo's wonderful craft work on her website  http://www.johammond.net/

Please bring:

Secateurs if you have them but there will be some to borrow
