Acres for Nature

Celebrate the life of a loved one, and protect Acres for Nature for future generations.

From acres of ancient woodland alive with birdsong to meadows rich with rare wildflowers and butterflies, you can help to protect nature for future generations in memory of a loved one.

Suffolk Wildlife Trust works to protect and restore habitats across the county. We take practical action to safeguard local wildlife by managing nature reserves and inspiring people to connect with the natural environment.

A donation of £300 is enough to protect one acre of one of our beautiful nature reserves for a whole year and there are several ways that you can support this vital conservation work and honour the memory of a loved one. The Acres for Nature programme enables you to honour someone’s love for nature and for you to help protect it for future generations.

There are several ways that you can get involved:

  1. Set up an online tribute page where friends and family can donate and share their memories.
  2. Arrange a funeral collection in-lieu of flowers as a thoughtful and sustainable alternative. Funeral directors and places of worship are usually happy to assist.
  3. Make a one-off in memory donation and leave a lasting legacy for local wildlife. Gifts can be made online, by phone or by post.

For every £300 donated in memory of a loved one you will be protecting one Acre For Nature. Your generosity will be acknowledged with a commemorative, glass suncatcher created by glass artist Nadia Lamas. We will also write to you to let you know how many Acres for Nature your kind donation is protecting in memory of your loved one and record their name in the Suffolk Wildlife Trust online Memory Wall.

The silvery blue wings of the male, Silver Studded Blue Butterfly make a wonderful sight as they fly low over heather and heathland in Suffolk. It’s a rare and beautiful sight and just one example of a species that symbolises the trust’s conservation efforts.
