About the event
Each week at 6pm UK time through the winter and spring we present an hour of speed sketching on zoom. We’d love to see you there too.
On Wednesday we announce the subject by email sent to your inbox as well as on our Facebook Members Group page. Subjects have varied from bears to elephants, from humans to dragonflies, from penguins to butterflies. There is always something new.
Join us for an hour to find out that it is possible to sketch at speed. Via zoom we show you a series of stills and videos for timed sketching. It’s great practice for sketching anything and you don’t even have to show us what you’ve done! If you haven’t joined before, please do – there’s more information about it below.
Festival of Nature Special!
Join the Art Safari team along with Jack Cripps, Jenny Rawson and Clare Sheehan from The Suffolk Wildlife Trust for the Festival of Nature. The Festival of Nature celebrates the nature of our area, the unique habitats of Suffolk through exhibitions, talks and creative events and we are delighted to be taking part in it with our Speedsketching. Claudia Myatt has some brilliant guests for our first three speedsketching sessions of the season.
24 September – We’re delighted to have Jack Cripps here to talk through the slides while you’re drawing and painting. Jack is Head of Marketing and Communication at the Suffolk Wildlife Trust, but outside of work he is an artist and creates some really beautiful abstract work.
01 October – Come and meet Jenny Rawson from the Suffolk Wildlife Trust. Jenny is the Trust’s Wilder Landscapes Advice Manager, and she helps farmers, businesses, and communities care for their spaces and implement practices that support wildlife and nature in the county. She also makes wonderful linocuts!
08 October – While you sketching, please listen to the lovely Clare Sheehan from the Suffolk Wildlife Trust. Clare is the Trust’s Design Manager and so her input on design will be fabulous. She has a keen eye for bold composition and storytelling using images.
Speed Sketching Hour
Thursdays, 6pm UK time on Zoom
Receive your link – and please consider supporting this hour, because it’s fun, informative and because our IT costs run a whole lot higher than our sun-downer costs… Many of you have been with us since February and it’s always lovely to see you.
Click to choose your own donation (maybe contribute every now and again)
Donate at least £8 per session (our suggested amount)

Each Thursday, join Mary-Anne and Claudia for an hour of drawing. We’ll sometimes invite other artist, traveller or conservation friends to contribute their specialist knowledge too.
Please join the meeting by 5.50pm – you will be in a waiting room until we let you in just before 6pm. (Ssshhhh, if you’re late to arrive, don’t worry, but please mute yourself and work extra hard to catch up).
We encourage you to draw and paint too, even if you have never drawn at speed before.
Please bring your paints, drawing things, as well as tea, coffee, beer, wine or anything that helps you and enjoy the flow and energy of painting with other people. It’s also not about what you produce – it’s about the process of doing it, exercising eye, hand, heart and brain and putting the hours down on paper. You are also welcome just to watch!
So, sharpen your pencils, find your paints and paper – and be ready for 5.50pm.
