Hedgehog Friendly County

Together, we can save Suffolk's hedgehogs.

The hedgehog is one of Britain’s most beloved native mammals, but its numbers are declining fast - by up to 75% in some areas. We don't want to lose them from Suffolk.

That's why we're on a mission to save Suffolk's hedgehogs, and we need your help. Whether at home, school, work, or in your community, there are simple actions you can take to help them. By creating hedgehog-friendly spaces and championing our spiky friends, we can work together to secure a future for hedgehogs in Suffolk.

Two of the priority areas for helping local hedgehogs recover are:

  1. Increasing natural food sources
By restoring wild areas with native plants that support insects and invertebrates, which are central to a hedgehog's diet

  2. Increasing connectivity between suitable areas
By creating "hedgehog highways" for hedgehogs to safely travel between gardens and green spaces on their search for food, water, and shelter.
