First gifted copy of The Lost Words presented to Woodbridge Primary School

After a fantastic response by Trust members and supporters, children at Woodbridge Primary School were today presented with the very first special copy of The Lost Words by Robert Macfarlane and Jackie Morris.

Each book presented to Suffolk primary schools will feature a Suffolk-only barn owl painting by Jackie Morris and barn owl spell by Robert Macfarlane and each has been funded by donations from the public.

Following the book presentation children from year one and two tried their hand at barn owl pellet dissection and nature writing. Year two worked together to meticulously extract tiny bones from barn owl pellets before identifying their finds and year one was asked to consider the sound, sight and feel of a barn owl to create acrostic poems about the birds.

Trust staff will now begin delivery of The Lost Words books to every primary school in the county and ask for any teachers or parents of children in primary schools to get in touch on 01473 890089 or info@suffolkwildlifetrust.org to arrange delivery of their free book.
