Music and melodies for Martlesham Wilds!

Corn marigolds at Martlesham Wilds - Steve Aylward

A big thank you to Darren Tansley, who is raising money for our new nature reserve, Martlesham Wilds, through a unique, musical fundraising challenge…

Darren Tansley, who lives on the doorstep of Martlesham Wilds, is currently composing a new piece of music inspired by our stunning new nature reserve, whilst setting fundraising milestones to unlock additional instruments for each target hit. Darren started composing with an acoustic guitar, before shortly adding a bodhran, a bass guitar and piano. Darren has six more instruments to go, revealing a new instrument with every £100 raised.

So far, Darren’s amazing fundraising efforts have raised over £370 for Martlesham Wilds and he will continue composing the final piece over the summer as each target is hit.

Martlesham Wilds Multi-instrumental Fundraiser - by Darren Tansley

This is not the first time Darren has generously used his talents to help raise funds for Suffolk Wildlife Trust, after raising over £1,000 towards Carlton Marshes in 2018, when Darren composed a piece of music inspired by the reserve and encouraged people to sponsor him for £1 per second.

As well as an esteemed background in music composition and performance, Darren is also incredibly passionate about wildlife, currently working for our neighbours at Essex Wildlife Trust.

We are so excited to hear the finished Martlesham Wilds piece! If you would like to support Darren in reaching his goal you can head to his Just Giving page here. Or you can see his other fantastic compositions via his YouTube channel Moonhare Studios.

Thank you, Darren, for helping us create a wilder Suffolk!
