Sneaky peek at Carlton Marshes...

We hope to have our new visitor centre, trails and hides at Carlton Marshes all open by mid-October (C-19 situation depending!). Here's a sneaky peek into where we are right now...

In 2019, the National Lottery Heritage Fund invested over £4 million in our vision to create 1,000 acres of wildness, match-funded by Suffolk Wildlife Trust donors and supporters. The two arable marshes we bought have been transformed into a magnificent wetland and we look forward to welcoming huge flocks of wintering wildfowl over the next few months.

We drew up plans for a network of new, all-weather, accessible paths and viewpoints, as well as a sustainable visitor centre offering panoramic views across the reserve.

As the excitement builds towards opening, we are delighted to be able to share with you some sneaky-peeks into how we're progressing. We would have loved to have been able to throw open the doors for a celebratory opening weekend, but with the restrictions around Covid-19, that will have to wait. Until then, we look forward to quietly welcoming you to our new facilities and the amazing wildlife that is already thriving on the new reserve areas. We will keep you up to date online, via email and our social media channels when we have a confirmed opening date.

It's likely that we may have to limit visitor numbers inside our visitor centre, but rest assured we will follow Government advice and keep everyone safe. We have covered outdoor seating areas which will be hugely helpful for the situation we all find ourselves in.

Until then, keep safe and well and watch this space - we very much look forward to welcoming you soon.
