Doreen was Suffolk born and bred, and in particular loved the countryside and villages close to the River Deben.

She spent her childhood days at Falkenham Creek which was close to her home, and loved visiting Felixstowe Ferry, Waldringfield, and Woodbridge - her nearest town in adult life.

She lived in Little Bealings for over sixty years, in a spot overlooking the river Fynn Valley which meets Martlesham Creek
