Nature is important to people in Suffolk
We love our local wildlife and we’re proud of our local nature-rich places: from our rivers and heathland, to parks, woods, meadows, wetlands and famous landscapes like the Brecks, the Broads and our stunning coastline.
Suffolk Wildlife Trust are calling on all candidates standing for the upcoming Suffolk County Council elections to commit to take the following actions for nature if they are elected on Thursday 7th May 2026:
- Support and encourage positive council decisions for nature, including through the delivery of Norfolk’s Local Nature Recovery Strategy.
In the meantime, please ask your party to endorse our United for Nature manifesto. The manifesto is focussed on actions the next County Council and new Combined County Authority can take to protect and restore nature. It is supported by environmental organisations with a combined membership of over 200,000 people across Suffolk and Norfolk.
- Stand up for our locally valued nature and wildlife to ensure it is protected and continues to benefit our communities.
- Support our communities to enhance their local natural environment and green spaces - nature is good for our health and wellbeing, and everyone should have access to high-quality nature-rich areas in their neighbourhoods.

We won’t publish your pledge, but encourage you to share your support through your election campaign. We’ll be in touch with more information about how to do this via the email address you’ve provided.
