Fishing on nature reserves

Our nature reserves are precious havens for wildlife. As your local wildlife charity, we work hard to make them exceptional places for nature to thrive. That’s why Suffolk Wildlife Trust does not allow fishing on any of its sites.

Fish play an important role in maintaining healthy river and lake ecosystems. As they feed, they contribute to nutrient cycling and algae control, and their movements help oxygenate the water and create vital microhabitats. Fish are also a key food source for many birds, amphibians, and mammals.

To help us protect fish and other river wildlife, we do not allow any form of fishing on our nature reserves.

We recognise that fishing is an ancient pastime that many people enjoy for its connection to nature and the outdoors. If you're looking for places to fish in Suffolk, we recommend searching online for dedicated fishing spots or local angling clubs.
