Biodiversity Net Gain - known as BNG - is a new planning requirement designed to leave nature in a better state after development, such as housebuilding.
Developers are required to deliver at least a 10% increase in biodiversity, and any habitat that is created or enhanced must be protected or maintained for at least 30 years.
BNG can be delivered on-site, by protecting or enhancing existing habitat on the development site, or delivered off-site, by buying compensatory BNG Units on a site within the same county (or out of county at a higher cost).
Suffolk Wildlife Trust can offer ecological services to help you deliver on-site BNG, plus we have BNG Units available at our nature reserves for off-site BNG.
