We're working every day to protect and restore Suffolk's wildlife and natural environment, and to inspire local people to take action for nature.
For over 60 years, Suffolk Wildlife Trust has led wildlife conservation, landscape recovery, and nature education across the county. We protect over 7,100 acres of space across 50 nature reserves and work with farmers and landowners to improve a further 5,800 acres for wildlife. We also empower schools and communities to take action for nature - building a growing movement of nature-friendly villages, neighbourhoods, and towns.
To amplify our impact, we're part of The Wildlife Trusts: a federation of 46 Wildlife Trusts across the UK. Together, we achieve even more for nature, the environment, and local communities with a united voice.
Wildlife conservation & nature recovery
Goal 1 - Nature is recovering at scale, in wildlife-rich landscapes and seas
Bringing back nature and building resilience to climate change requires landscape-scale ambition. We need more land protected for nature, with larger areas, wilder margins, and better-connected habitats. At the UN Biodiversity Summit in 2022 (COP 15), 200 nations - including the UK - committed to protecting 30% of the world's land and sea for nature by 3030, known as the 30-by-30 target.
As Suffolk's nature charity, we're championing this goal locally - managing our reserves for nature's recovery, working with local farmers and landowners to support wildlife-friendly management, and protecting Suffolk's most precious and unique wildlife.
Community action & nature learning
Goal 2 - People in every community are taking meaningful action for nature & climate.
When people come together to support a cause, real change happens. If just 1 in 4 people in Suffolk took action for nature and climate - at home, at school, at work, or in their local community - we could create a societal shift that reverses nature's decline, and restores our natural environment.
That's why we're working with communities, schools and young people across the Suffolk to help local people understand the county's wildlife and environment - and empower them to take action for nature and climate.
