Timeline of our relationship with Dell Primary

This was our first session at Phoenix St Peter working with the Year 5s and Year 6s. We completed the Nature Connection Index survey to see how the children felt about outdoor learning and spending time in nature. Then the rest of the session we looked at birds as it is the time of year when we need to start thinking about how we can help birds. They got creative and made their own bird species from natural materials, there were some very interesting creations such as the 'box bird' and 'Grinch bird' made from grass.
Then we made pinecone bird feeders to hang up around the wildlife area before going into the school's bird hide to see what birds came to feast on the newly made feeders. From this the children decided they would like to have a more permanent bird feeder station placed in front of the bird hide to encourage birds for them to watch.
