This area of our website is especially for members, to help you get the most out of your membership.
Thank you for helping to make Suffolk Wildlife Trust the force for good that we believe it to be. Your support as a member underpins everything we do - extending and improving our nature reserves, encouraging people of all ages to love wildlife and spreading good conservation practice in the wider countryside. We simply couldn’t do this without you.
New address... new name… new bank details…
If you have any questions about your membership, or need to update your personal details Sam Grange our Membership Manager would be delighted to help. Please call her on 01473 890089 or send a message.
We can tailor your membership to suit your family. If your children are aged between 6-14 they would enjoy our Wildlife Watch magazine and family e-news with nature activities and spotter sheets. Give Sam a call and she’ll add them to your membership.
Likewise do let us know if your children have grown too old for the magazine, so we can update your membership.
Do you get our e-newsletter, circulated to members in April, July and October? If not, we probably haven’t got your email address. Please contact Sam with your details and we will add you to the mailing list: send a message.
As well as our standard e-news, we produce an extended version for family members with seasonal activities to help your family get closer to nature.
Evening talks & wildlife walks
Our network of Wildlife Groups organise local activities at community venues across the county. They are a chance to indulge your interest in nature and to meet up with like-minded wildlife enthusiasts.
Event costs for members
We have been asked by members about offering discounted entry to events. The reason we don't is quite simply VAT. As we do not charge to visit our nature reserves, HMRC recognises there is no financial benefit to being a member of Suffolk Wildlife Trust, and so we do not have to pay VAT on membership subscriptions.
We have been given clear guidance from both our auditors and VAT specialists that if we offer benefits to members, such as discounted entry to events, we would have to charge VAT on our membership. This would mean either the Trust facing a 20% reduction in membership income or passing this on to our members and increasing subs by 20%. Given this, we have taken the decision that it is better to maintain our VAT free status - we hope you agree!
Time to renew...
If you have set up a Direct debit instruction for your subscription, your membership will be renewed automatically based on the confirmation you received shortly after joining. If you renew by another method you will be sent a letter or email when it is time to renew.
Renewal is possible by cheque or debit/credit card, however Direct Debit is the most convenient and cost-effective way to pay your subscription. Click here to renew by Direct Debit. If you have any questions about renewing your membership, Sam Grange, our Membership Manager, can help. Please call her on 01473 890089 or send a message.
