Carlton Marshes Visitor Centre receives building awards

Carlton Marshes Visitor Centre - John Ferguson

We're delighted that Carlton Marshes was recognised at the East Suffolk Quality of Place Awards with a 'Green Commendation' and 'Highly Commended' in the Community Category at the East Suffolk Quality of Place Awards in March.

Steve Aylward, Suffolk Wildlife Trust's Head of Project Development comments, "We were delighted that our Visitor Centre at Carlton Marshes was recently recognised at the East Suffolk Quality of Place Awards receiving a Green Commendation and being Highly Commended in the Community Category.

We set out to create a modern sustainable building with a range of low energy design features including a ground source heat pump, passive ventilation, automatic led lighting, and a largely timber construction.

The building and surrounding nature reserve is all about connecting people with nature and a place for both local families and visitors from further afield to experience the outstanding wildlife that Carlton Marshes has to offer".
