Help save Gunton Meadow Nature Reserve - update

By Steve Aylward

Thank you! There are now 50 objections to the planning application that threatens to bring more disturbance, disruption and danger to the precious wildlife of Gunton Meadow. It's not too late to help - please get involved if you can.

Our campaign to save Gunton Meadow nature reserve has certainly caught the attention of local people who value their precious open spaces and wildlife. There are now 50 objections to the application for a McDonald’s restaurant from residents, and Lowestoft Town Council has recommended refusal, changing its earlier decision to support it. We are very grateful to all the Trust members, Town Councillors and other local people who have stood up to defend nature.

It's not too late to get involved. The decision on the planning application will be made by East Suffolk Council’s planning committee. No date has yet been published for the committee to consider it, so you can still send your comments to the planning department and to the ward members who represent the interests of Gunton on the Council.

You can help by submitting your comments as soon as possible by email to planning@eastsuffolk.gov.uk or by letter to: Planning Department, East Suffolk House, Station Road, Melton, Woodbridge IP12 1RT quoting reference DC/22/1395/FUL.
