We have some special offers for lottery players, to say thank you during National Lottery Open Week. Visit Lackford Lakes or Carlton Marshes on the 25th or 26th March and present a National Lottery ticket or scratchcard (digital or physical) to access free binocular hire and nature spotter sheet.
The southern gateway to the Broads National Park, Carlton Marshes nature reserve is a 1000 acres of water, woodland and marshes, home to a wide variety of fantastic wildlife. There is an adventurous playscape for children, a visitor centre with café and shop, accessible and all-weather trails, which makes it the perfect family day out. The transformation over the past five years of this nature reserve to a thriving visitor attraction offering a suite of learning and engagement opportunities for local families and holiday visitors alike is thanks to national lottery players all over country.
Lackford Lakes nature reserve is an oasis of wildlife with lakes, meadow, reeds and woodland. Popular with bird watchers and other wildlife enthusiasts this magical reserve benefitted from National Heritage Lottery funding 23 years ago! Lottery players helped fund a Learning Officer role which enabled the Trust to reach out to new audiences. The legacy of this investment can still be seen today; our Visitor Experience and Engagement officers offer events and activities all year round from Wild Tots and Young Wardens to family discovery days and species identification courses.
This weekend is our chance to say ‘Thank you’. Our usual binocular hire fees are being wavered if you show us your lottery ticket! If you are a beginner wildlife watcher this is the perfect opportunity of seeing wildlife up close. Our Wildlife Guides and Welcome Volunteers will help you set up your binoculars and advise on the best areas to visit on the day.
