About the event

Do you have a passion for plants? 

Have you always wanted to learn to draw them? 

Join professional botanical artist, illustrator and tutor, Ruth Wharrier, for an introductory day to this fascinating and beautiful art form.

The day offers participants a practical introduction to botanical drawing. You will learn new drawing and observation skills through step-by-step demonstrations, basic botany plus advice on accurate drawing and recording.

Beginners welcome.

Ruth has a Botanical School of Art based at Carlton Marshes. For those who wish to embark on a botanical drawing and painting journey, Ruth offers a progressive route through Level 2, 3 and 4 courses.

Smooth heavy cartridge paper or sketchbook

Tracing paper

A set of drawing pencils e.g Faber Castelle

Eraser and putty rubber

Dividers or a ruler

Sharpener

Hand lens or magnifier (x10)

 

Teas & coffees will be served throughout the day.

What to bring

A range of drawing pencils, sharpener, rubber, drawing pens e.g. Uni pen 0.05, 0.2, 0.5. An A4 sketchbook with smooth cartridge paper suitable for line and wash, tracing paper, hand lens or magnifier, divider or ruler. 

A camera if you wish.

Tea and coffee will be provided throughout the day. 

Bring a packed lunch or food is available to purchase from the cafe.
