About the event

The Ipswich Group of Suffolk Wildlife Trust has arranged for the Lackford Lake, Senior Visitor Experience Officer to join us for this event.

What to expect: the reserve is a site of special scientific interest for dragonflies, which are abundant in summer. The Lackford Lakes page also states 'Later in summer, the reserve is alive with damselflies and dragonflies. Swallows and martins sweep over the water's surface feeding on small flies. The lakesides are busy with nesting great-crested grebe, kingfisher, tufted duck and water rail. Bright stems of purple-loosestrife, common fleabane and gipsywort create colour at the water's edge.'

Arrive between 10:15am and 10:30am and meet at the visitor centre car park or inside the visitor centre if raining.

Introduction talk to Lackford Lakes will start promptly at 10:30am

Walk starts at approx 10:45am

Event duration approx 2.15pm, which includes time for stops for birdwatching. We will cover a distance of about 3 miles.
