About the event
During the morning, local basketmaker, Karen Lawrence will show you how to make a selection of festive willow decorations such as a Christmas tree, reindeer and stars, using different weaves and techniques. Under Karen’s expert guidance you will create three individual yuletide decorations of your choice.
The course is suitable for those with no prior knowledge of basketry. Karen will give step by step instructions and guide you to work with the willow to create these attractive objects. All materials are included in the cost of the course.
You can see some of Karen's beautiful craftwork on her website at: www.karenlawrencebasketry.com
Although we hope that Covid restrictions will not prevail in November this year, if the situation changes we may have to put measures in place to protect everyone. We would appreciate you familiarising youself with the guidelines and being ready to follow them should they still be in place in November.
More detailed information will be outlined nearer the time or when you arrive at the venue, however, it is important that you read and agree to the following information before you book.
- During the session you will be required to socially distance at the Government recommended 2m.
- All participants will be required to use sanitising hand gel on arrival. This will be provided and will be available for you to use at any additional points during the day, should you wish to.
- If you are showing ANY signs or symptoms of COVID-19, or you have been told by NHS Track and Trace to isolate, you must not attend this event.
- Please note that due to the change in government guidance on Covid-19, it will be necessary for everyone to use a face covering in the centre during the day. If you wish, you will be able to remove your face coverings when you are safely seated, but you will be required to put them back on whenever you rise from your seat. As face coverings become saturated over time, we ask that you each bring a new one with you to change into at lunchtime. We will supply a few disposable masks for anyone who is unable to bring sufficient face coverings with them.
All equipment used on the day will be cleaned before and after use and where possible everyone will have their own set of tools for the duration.
We hope to be able to serve refreshments. However, please feel free to bring your own drinks. Thank you for your understanding.
Please also bring:
A packed lunch
An apron to protect your clothes if you would like
A camera if you wish
