About the event

All our sessions will be held entirely outside, so please ensure your child(ren) are dressed appropriately for the weather. Be aware that it can be cooler and muddy in the wood. Our sessions primarily follow the Forest School ethos of child led learning, we are usually in the woods putting up ropes, using tools and encouraging a deep connection with the woodland environment.

We will be preparing a vegetarian lunch with the children as part of this session. Please note that during the summer months, this lunch will not be cooked over the fire. Drinks and snacks will be provided although please send your young person with a drink and any particular snacks they require.

You will be emailed a few days prior to the event with details of the menu for the session so you can discuss this with your child(ren) and they know what to expect.  If they do not like what is on offer, feel free to send them with a packed lunch. We will aim to cater for the dietary requirements of the group.  Where this is not possible, we will be in touch.

All our sessions will be held entirely outside, so please ensure your child(ren) are dressed appropriately for the weather (hat scarf, suncream, waterproofs as appropriate to the season) and be aware that can be a tad cooler in the woods than elsewhere. They will also need closed toed shoes and you may prefer to send them in long trousers as there are stinging nettles and midges in the woods. Please do not allow your young person to bring a mobile phone.

During high winds, our sessions will be based in and around the yard as it is unsafe to be in the woods.

All young people must be dropped off by an adult, who must confirm their emergency contact details with the member of staff at the arrival point, before departing along with confirming who will be collecting said child.

Funded HAF places will be available for this event in due course.

It is important that you read and agree to the following information before you book onto the session.

What to bring

We will be preparing a vegetarian lunch with the children as part of this session. Please note that during the summer months, this lunch will not be cooked over the fire. Drinks and snacks will be provided although please send your young person with a drink and any particular snacks they require.

It is advisable to wear long trousers to prevent stings and bites (there are lots of midges in the woods) and closed toe shoes/trainers, we may be using tools so toes need to be covered.

Please dress for the weather, remembering it is always a little cooler in the woods.
