Meet the Team - Membership

Jesse Walker

Membership is an integral part of our charity, without support through membership we wouldn’t be able to deliver vital work for wildlife and nature in Suffolk. Meet the team behind the scenes of membership and learn more about how your support can make all the difference for wildlife.

Our membership team is diligently overseen by Nic, our Supporter Development Manager, and Maddie our Senior Supporter Development Officer. Nic has the important role of overseeing how the whole of our membership, including making data-driven decisions on how to encourage more members to join us and ensuring our efforts are compliant with fundraising regulations and GDPR.

Hannah and Katie are our Membership Assistants. Working at our office just outside of Ipswich no two days are the same for them. Their busy roles include processing and welcoming new members, ensuring our membership data is correct and up to date, answering enquiries and managing membership renewals. As a charity, memberships are an essential part of what keeps us going. Hannah has worked in the membership team for 6 years, her expert knowledge of our data systems and customer enquires makes her a great asset to the team. Katie joined us 3 years ago, previously running her own business, she has a great eye for detail and years of customer service experience.

When a member joins us, Katie and Hannah put together a Welcome Pack which includes information about our nature reserves, a welcome card, and our regular member magazine. Family memberships also receive an activity pack, stickers, and magazine for the children. These packs are then sent out by Hannah and Katie, ready for our members to learn more about the reserves we care for and wildlife in Suffolk.

Joining us this month as our Senior Supporter Development Officer, is Maddie. With a great background in the communications and project management, Maddie will be working with Katie and Hannah overseeing the management of member data and using analytics to support our members journey, helping to make sure our members understand the value of their membership and how their donations support our vision for a wilder Suffolk.

Our team have had an additionally busy start to the year with processing donation increases from our members. We have been overwhelmed with the generosity of your donations, varying from a £1 a month increase to doubling your donations, every penny helps secure the future of our nature reserves and wildlife in Suffolk. Thank you.

Membership is a vital aspect for us at Suffolk Wildlife Trust. Your regular donations enable us to forecast the year ahead and forward plan vital conservation work at our reserves and beyond in the county.

Currently it costs £250 to manage a single acre for wildlife for a year.

According to the State of Nature Report, 15% of species are extinct or at risk of extinction from Great Britain. Conservation works to maintain and improve vital habitats gives our native species safe places to recuperate.

As a member your voice helps amplify our work for nature. We are not just a singular voice for nature and wildlife in Suffolk, over 26,000 of you back wildlife with us.

Wildlife and access to nature is for everyone. With your memberships we can keep over 50 nature reserves free and open to all to enjoy.

Our members have helped make so many things possible!

Dormice are spreading, otters are thriving, nature reserves are growing and barn owls are back!
