The change in the weather these past few days has meant a busier time for our smaller birds around the reserve as they spend more time look for food. This also means a busier time at our feeders…

The following is running commentary taken from various wildlife guides scattered around the Kingfisher trail on Sunday 13th January 2019 during our Bedtime at Lackford event.

We are only three days into the New Year and we have recorded 70 species of birds on the reserve. There are plenty of ducks and small birds around reserve at the moment.

The wildlife and lakes are taking on a lovely early winter feel at the moment with lots of redwings feeding on the berries and lots of ducks on the lakes

We are now into the last few days of Autumn and things are starting to look a lot like winter for us at Lackford with lots of ducks, lapwing, snipe, gulls roosting and starlings roosting

Well as we march headlong into November, the autumnal days and the light it brings is making Lackford the place to be. The wildfowl population on the sailing lake is growing with lots to see…

Todays is the last day of October and the reserve was full of activity from our birds, to the odd butterfly, plenty of common darters and the otter even made an appearance too down at Steggall…

Early October is all about the first birds arriving back on the lakes to spend the winter including large number of ducks. At the same time we still have good numbers of dragonflies and…

This spell of autumn sunshine keeps the insects flying from damselflies and dragonflies to plenty of butterflies.

August is a time of butterflies, dragonflies and birds.
