Hog habits - testing of the equipment!

Hog habits - testing of the equipment!

We will soon be launching our equipment borrowing scheme – trail cameras and footprint tunnels available for Ipswich residents to help detect the wildlife in their gardens.

I am currently in the process of testing this equipment before rolling out across the town, so I thought I would share some of my findings!

One of our Hedgehog Champions, Emma, very kindly allowed me to set up our trail camera in her garden to test. No hedgehogs were seen quite yet, but plenty of cheeky mice, birds and squirrels!

Emma has recently reported her first wild hog on her trail camera, so I’ll next be testing our video setting to see if we can capture our first hogs on the project camera!

We are especially interested in capturing footage of hedgehogs entering gardens via Hedgehog Highways! If you’d like to use our equipment to monitor wildlife in your garden, please register your interest at hedgehogs@suffolkwildlifetrust.org
