Yasmin, our Learning Intern, has had a busy few months at Foxburrow Nature Reserve. Read more in her latest blog...

Hello again – it’s Yasmin, the learning team intern at Foxburrow nature reserve. I was due to finish my internship this month. I didn’t feel that I was quite ready to leave, so I’ve extended my internship until the end of June. I’m really looking forward to witnessing the changes here throughout spring and summer.

In the new year, we really hit the ground running. We have lots of exciting things lined up in 2023. January saw the launch of Nicola Coe’s artist in residency. It was an honour to work with Nicola and make arrangements for the initial exhibition and preview evening. It was wonderful to support the transformation of the education room and see it being enjoyed by a diverse audience, at the preview evening and throughout nestbox building week. Nicola will be delivering a range of meet the artist sessions and workshops. I am pleased that I will be here a little longer and have the opportunity to be involved.

The start to the year has been busy with Wild Tots, Wild Babies, Wild in the Week, Holiday Club, Wilder Schools and school visits. It's also been wonderful to welcome families to the reserve for Weekend Wildlife Club. Our February session had a Winter Water theme. The families worked incredibly hard creating mini ponds in the woods and we discovered lots of life in our raised pond. It's also been great fun delivering Wild Parties, involving den building, minibeast hunting, natural art and scavenger hunts.

I have some professional development scheduled in the coming months. I am really excited to gain some new ideas that I can implement and share with you soon!
