About the event
Lackford comes alive when everyone else goes to bed! Join us as it gets dark for:
Moth Trapping: Let's catch some moths! Come and have a look at our moth traps in action and see what moths we find. Have a go at identifying these with a member of our team.
Owl Pellet Dissection: What did the barn owl eat for tea? Have a look at what's left behind in an owls pellet, from skulls to beetles wings. There's some gruesome things to be found.
Biofluorescent taster: Come and see the beauty of the natural world under a UV torch. From fungi to insects and plants, encounter a diverse array of species that come alive with vibrant hues of green, blue, red, purple, orange, and more, revealing Nature’s hidden spectacles (this is just a taster for the walks we run).
Night time camera footage: Ever wonder what our wildlife gets up to after dark? Watch footage from our trail cameras that have been put up around the dark.
Bat Detectors: What bats can you find? Join a member of our team who will guide you through how to use a bat detector and help identify what bats can be found flying around us (from 9pm)
The cafe on site will be open for the event with hot drinks and cake! (The shop and cafe will be open from 6.30pm onwards)
* This is a self led event around the reserve with wildlife guides and activities at certain positions around the blue trail
